PERFORMING THE UNKNOWN
A vocal improvisation & stage presence laboratory
This workshop explores the subtle, sensitive and intuitive meeting points between improvisation, performance, collaboration and embodied creative expression.
The focus is to get sharper with our main instruments (our bodies) and use them to be as authentic as possible - Trough tools like singing, beatboxing, spoken word and poetry, body percussion, tap, dance and movement, clown, acting and physical theatre (among other inspirations), we answer the questions “How can I be as present as possible?”, “How can I show up in the best possible version of me?”, “How can my choices reflect all of my raw authenticity and honesty?”, “How can I show my skills, while learning and bettering them?”, “How can I push my limits and discover new information?”
The main idea is to constantly work attentive and present listening and observation, developing a finer awareness of the individual and the group, as we create a safe and fun container to comfortably leave our comfort zones, in this infinite realm of co-creation.
Through a series of improvisational structures, collective games, and directed performance explorations, rizumik will guide participants into an open creative field where anything can emerge: spontaneous scenes, musical textures, movement, theatrical sketches, solos, ensemble interplay, and unexpected forms of expression.
The workshop focuses on developing:
• stage presence
• notions of scenic space
• creative confidence
• awareness of body and voice
• responsiveness, sharpness and focus in the moment
• collective listening and interaction
• artistic risk-taking in a safe and playful environment
Rather than working toward fixed material, the group will engage in a living and organic process of creation, where rizumik acts as a facilitator/director — shaping dynamics, proposing structures, and pushing participants toward deeper expression and greater freedom on stage.
This laboratory is open both to performers seeking to deepen their artistic practice and to anyone curious to explore improvisation as a space for play, creativity, and personal discovery.
